On Christmas Eve, as good ones do, __N1__ went to bed by two... Minutes past the time agreed — (Well! Stockings take some time to read!) When suddenly the rooftop — THUMP! — Went bumpety-bump-bump-BUMP-bump-bump.

🎨 __N1__ in bed pretending to sleep with one eye open, stocking hung by the window, fairy lights glowing; above, the ceiling shakes with comic dust as something big bumps onto the roof; snow whirling outside.

__N1__ tiptoed to the sill And peeked out past the window chill — A sleigh! A REAL one! Skewed and stuck, One runner wedged behind the guttering. (Luck!) And there, hat crooked, checking twice, Stood Santa Claus — on __N1__'s roof ice!

🎨 View from the window: Santa's sleigh tilted and wedged in the roof gutter, presents wobbling; Santa standing on the icy tiles scratching his head under a crooked hat; reindeer looking sheepish; __N1__'s amazed face reflected in the glass.

__N1__ grabbed a woolly hat, Two wellies (one was for the cat...), And climbed the ladder Dad left out (For fairy lights, or thereabouts). "Er... evening, Santa. Need a hand? You've crash-parked on the worst-lit land."

🎨 __N1__ climbing carefully up a ladder onto the snowy roof in pyjamas, wellies and bobble hat; Santa turning in surprise; the street below dark with one broken streetlamp flickering; snowflakes drifting.

"Ho-ho... hello!" said Santa, low. "We've had a night of ho-ho-WOE: Our guiding light has caught a cold — Poor Rudolph's nose is grey, not gold! No glow, no go. We fly by shine. And EVERY street looks dark as mine."

🎨 Santa gesturing sadly at Rudolph, who sits wrapped in a tartan blanket with a thermometer, his famous nose dull grey instead of glowing, sneezing a tiny puff of snow; other reindeer holding tissues for him.

__N1__ thought. Then __N1__ GRINNED. (The kind of grin that beats the wind.) "Wait here!" — and down the ladder, quick, Returned with something small and slick: "My bicycle lamp! It's bright! It blinks! It's red! It's PERFECT, don't you think?"

🎨 __N1__ triumphantly holding up a little red bicycle lamp, switching it on to a brilliant cheerful red glow that lights the whole rooftop; Santa's face lighting up with delight; Rudolph peeking hopefully from his blanket.

They strapped it snug to Rudolph's brow, (He rather liked the fashion now), But Santa sighed, "One trouble more: I've never flown THIS street before. Which house has babies? Which has dogs? Which chimney's blocked? Which garden's bogged?"

🎨 The bicycle lamp strapped to Rudolph's antlers glowing bright red, Rudolph posing proudly; Santa holding a huge tangled address scroll upside down, looking baffled at the unfamiliar street of rooftops below.

"THIS street?" said __N1__. "That's MY street, mate! I know each gnome and garden gate! Number Four has twins (they're teething), Six's dog does festive thieving, Eight's new baby sleeps at dawn — And NEVER cross the Wilsons' lawn."

🎨 __N1__ standing at the roof edge pointing knowledgeably down the snowy street like a tiny general, Santa taking notes with a quill; visible below: a garden gnome, a mischievous terrier with tinsel in its mouth, houses with warm windows.

So up they went — __N1__ navigating! — Past rooftops, chimneys, aerials waiting. "Left at the postbox! Mind the wire! The Hendersons still light a fire!" And house by house, with whispered care, The presents landed here and there.

🎨 The sleigh flying low along the street with Rudolph's red bike-lamp beaming ahead; __N1__ sitting beside Santa pointing directions; Santa dropping wrapped presents precisely down chimneys; the terrier below watching a parcel float past just out of reach.

At Number Eight they held their breath — The baby stirred... a whisker's breadth... But __N1__ knew the squeaky stair, The silent way past teddy bear. "Third floorboard's fine. Avoid the fourth." And Christmas carried on up north.

🎨 Inside a dim nursery: Santa tiptoeing cartoonishly with a parcel, following __N1__ who points at safe floorboards; a baby stirring in a cot but settling; both freeze mid-step in comic silence; fairy lights glow through the window.

When every stocking hung full-weight, The sky already hinted eight, Santa shook her mittened hand: "The finest guide in all the land! Rudolph votes — and I agree — You're an honorary R-E-I-N-D-E-E-R!"

🎨 Back on __N1__'s rooftop at first hint of dawn: Santa solemnly shaking __N1__'s mittened hand; Rudolph placing his own tartan blanket around __N1__'s shoulders like a ceremonial cape; the other reindeer stamping applause in the snow.

Then off they rose in silver light, A bike-lamp blinking out of sight. And __N1__ yawned and climbed back down To the sleepiest bed in the whole town... Where by the stocking, propped just so, Sat one small parcel, wrapped in snow.

🎨 The sleigh soaring away into a pale silver dawn sky, the little red lamp blinking like a star; below, __N1__ back in bed almost asleep; by the stocking a small special parcel wrapped in snowflake paper with a sprig of holly.

Inside: a bell. A silver sound. A note: "For when we're next year round — One ring, and Rudolph flies to you. P.S. His nose? Good as new! P.P.S. — the world agrees: Christmas runs on kids like these."

🎨 Christmas morning: __N1__ sitting in bed holding up a small silver bell that catches the light, delighted; on the windowsill outside, a tiny red glow zips across the morning sky like a shooting star. Warm, joyful final scene.
